A Brief About MCAN
Muslim Corpers Association of Nigeria (MCAN) as the acronym implies is a religious body under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme established in 1978, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) since 1994 and affiliated with the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) since 2018.
MCAN is a sister body to other Muslim Organizations across the Federation, working tirelessly to serve Islam through national service.

Our Main Aim
Ensuring the rights and welfare of all Muslim corps members and their communities is ensured and protected.
Organization & Coordination
To identify, organize, coordinate and direct the affairs of Muslim Corps Members to assist them in carrying out their collective Islamic religious duties and responsibilities.
Islamic Education
To promote members' pursuit of Islamic education to enhance their correct understanding and practice of Islam as a Religion and Way of Life.
Da'awah & Social Welfare
To engage in Islamic propagation and partake in social welfare activities in prisons, hospitals, remand homes and orphanages in line with Islamic principles of charity.
Rights Protection
To assert and defend the rights and interests of all Muslims in Nigeria and Muslim Corps members in particular.
Collaboration
To liaise and work hand-in-hand with other organizations with similar aims and objectives.

Financial & Economic Challenges
This has been one of our major challenges as it hinders our activism and establishment of MCAN Mosques and Lodges, schools and Business centres across the federation.
- Only 47 lodges in 28 states after 47 years of existence
- Lack of accommodation, especially in South East, South South regions
- Serious accommodation challenges for Muslim sisters
- Lack of mobility for Da'awah outreach programmes
Enabling Environment Challenges
For every successful organization and administration, there must be an enabling environment ensured by stakeholders whose decisions are vital to development.

- Hike in house rents
- Religious indoctrination of our sisters
Impact
Discrimination of every form has become epidemic, eating deep through our faith, like a cankerworm. Da'wah outreach programmes have been short-lived due to these challenges.
